Really good point, thanks for the response! Definitely when the culture has already been built and you’re not the one controlling it, you really do have to go along with it I think… that’s was what I was getting at with my point about how it is probably bad career advice for an individual who is in a political environment to speak up in a different way from everyone else.

And if you are the one who controls the culture, I didn’t mean that you should use the active voice to assign out blame to others, but more to take accountability for things yourself and set the tone from the top... if any blame should be assigned I was hoping the leadership team would step up or a collective “we messed up” would be in order.

But I really appreciate your thoughtful comment — it’s a great point I should have addressed specifically in the original piece!
